Generator Installation
Our lives depend on power, and let’s face it – West Michigan weather is unpredictable. Power outages are inconvenient and can cause food to spoil, disrupt communications, affect water supply, and interrupt the ability to heat your home.
Luckily, our team is committed to preventing future power interruptions with an automatic standby generator. Tandem Electric is a Generac Dealer 360 Partner, and we offer residential, commercial, and industrial generator installation ranging from 10kw up to 300kw.
Financing is available upon request.
Portable Generators vs Standby Generators
Our certified electricians install two types of generators: portable (manual transfer generators) and standby (automatic transfer generators).
Portable Generators
Portable generators are commonly used for residential properties and provide enough power to restart household essentials such as the furnace, refrigerator, and sump pump.
- Inexpensive and functional.
- User-friendly - They are easy to operate without outside electrical assistance.
- They are good for emergency situations.
- You must keep up with regular maintenance to ensure it will work when you need it.
- These generators require a manual start. They won’t connect automatically when the power goes out.
- Portable generators can be noisy.
- They only power your most essential household appliances. You won’t be able to use air conditioning or watch television.
Generac Standby Generators
A standby generator can be used in both residential and commercial properties. They automatically turn on once power is lost and can power your entire property. Your Tandem Electric team will hire and coordinate a professional heating installer to pipe in your natural gas or LP system.
- Automatically switches on when power is lost.
- Gives you the ability to continue your day as if the power was never lost.
- Can provide you peace of mind when you leave for vacation. No returning home to burnt out applications, burst pipes, or spoiled food!
- They can run continuously for a long time.
- Standby generators are more expensive than portable generators.
- They do require professional installation.
